Just a Heads Up

It looks like the weather is finally starting to warm up this week. Usually we are already riding by this time of year. I am starting my annual Ride Every day in April commitment tomorrow. 30-Days-of-Bike-Pledge-Logo

Brrrrrrr!  But trikes have 3 wheels so I am not concerned about falling! Over the last 3 years I have done this, I have had days when I just did not want to ride. But those days tended to be some of the best rides of the month. Plus, it is great to see the changes in the area as winter leaves and spring begins to blossom.

Join me in making your own Challenge to ride EVERY DAY FOR 30 DAYS.  See You out there!

If the weather keeps improving we should get the 2014 Season Officially started Wednesday, April 9, 6:45 on the Parking lot at the Leduc Alliance Church.  See you then, dress in layers! Get your bike tuned up ready to go!

If you need a thorough tune up, I know of a good place to RENU your CYCLE for the season! Winking smile

Africa 2015

Hello Everyone!

There is interest in an adventure trip to Africa in the next year or so. This trip could include a cycling component, hiking (Mt. Kilimanjaro), Safari, Volunteering (Various christian charities we could support with our labour), Kayaking, or other activities depending what the participants want to do. We are thinking it will be a 3 or 4 week trip, again the group will decide.

The immediate need is to hear back from anyone who is possibly interested in participating. Once we have that list of people we will call a meeting for everyone to get together and discuss the options and details.

SO!!! Anyone who is at all interested in learning more about the potential trip please email me at lyle.garstad@gmail.com with your names and contact information. I will send out a group email once the meeting date is set.

I can also be reached by phone at 780-986-7966

Ride Report: Wilton Park Hall

It was a great start to the 2014 season with 5 recumbent s making the cool but calm ride out west of Calmar. 3 ICE trikes Sprint X, Sprint, Adventure HD, a Tour Easy and a Mango Velomobile.

For the majority of the riders this was their first ride of the season so the pace was lower than mid summer. But we had a blast catching up on winter tales and future upgrades. Wouter had some shifting problems and my derailleur guide in the Mango unthreaded; but a simple reattach with a torx driver and we were on out way ( I have to Loctite that darned screw this season!)

After wards we split some Delicious cinnamon buns Ryan brought from the Old Strathcona Market and some of Alice’s Cherry muffins. mmmmmmmm. See you for our next ride!

Upcoming Rides:
Wednesday Nights
6:45 Leduc & Area Rambles
March 30 Weekend Ride – TO be determined – Want to host it? call me
April – Beaumont to Millwood’s and return
MAY – Red Deer Bike Paths
         – Devon/Wilton Hall/ Calmar/ Devon Loop
June – Camrose MS TOUR
        – Idaho TOT Rally

Spring is ready to be sprung!

This past week the snow is really melting fast so Wouter and I took off for a ride around the local bike paths to check out their condition and make a splash or 2.  We had a great time Wednesday evening from 5- 7 just taking our time, sipping coffee at the east end of the Telford lake pathway.

So we figure lets take advantage of the weather this weekend and do our annual spring ride from Calmar to Wilton Park Hall and back Sunday March 16. Meet at Larry’s around 2 pm for a 26 km round trip. Coffee at Larry’s after the ride if you want to stay.

If you need the address call him at home if you know it or the Shop : Crackmasters/Renu Cycle  Leduc.

See ya!
