He has a bad chest cold and can not ride. But go ahead and enjoy the ride tonight.
Wouter and I headed out to the Lake from Calmar on Friday. This ride is one that I have been wanting to do for a couple of years but had never gotten a round to it. So when I mentioned to Wouter he said; “lets do it!”.The weather was coolish and the highways were busy. Just after starting I noticed my left tire was low so we pumped it up and got under way. It was a fairly easy ride except that the new pavement from Thorsby to the lake is made out of recycled road materials and seemed slow. Kinda disappointing!
Then about 10 Km from the Campsite my rear tire got a puncture. While fixing it guess who should pull up? Angela a former Godspoke Rider who was just passing by on her way to a marathon! It was really nice to see her and say hi. She could not believe it when she saw a couple of guys on trike and thought “That’s got to be Larry, who else around here would be riding a recumbent trike?!”. We made it to the Campsite around 7pm, 5 hours of riding – about what I thought with stops and such. it would have been a bit shorter but I took a wrong turn in the park and ended up doing 5 or 6 km more.
We had a nice evening with dinner and a campfire with Janice. We stayed overnight in our trailers and met everyone else the following morning.
We had 14 riders out for our ride on Saturday! WooHoo! Thanks for coming out everyone!
The weather was just right, not to hot, not to cold. Alice and Janice had a great afternoon doing the Rhododendron tour along the west side of the lake while 12 of us circumnavigated the whole lake. (with some minor Murray detours and garage sailing) It was the longest ride that Gerry and Branden G ever accomplished and they did great!
Henry came up all the way from Calgary for the day – It was good to see him!
After we had a great campfire and eat too much again! The Smokey’s, salads, blueberry along with the puffed wheat squares were yummy. Thanks to all who contributed to the meal.
A great weekend and a fitting tribute Ride for Rose!
Stay tuned for more ride info, reviews etc. We may ride on the Long weekend. I have a bad chest cold, we’ll see how that goes!
